In the Bible, the apostle Paul referred frequently to our “sinful nature,” that is, our nature that is corrupted by sin. We develop evil desires (desires that go against God’s design for us) and expect it to work out fine, but ultimately it doesn’t. In the book of James we learn that our sinful desires set us up for temptation which entices us to commit sin. As sin increases it grows in mastery of us which ultimately kills us – eternal death (eternal separation from God). Repentance and return to God is the only way of salvation. God made that possible through Jesus Christ. He wants to rescue us from being trapped in our sin so we can enjoy life with Him, now and forever.
