In the last chapter of Revelation, Jesus said He is coming with reward and He will give to everyone according to what he has done (v. 12). He then stated His authority (v. 13). In the next verse He stated who will receive eternal life (v. 14). Then He stated who will not be allowed into eternal life with Him (v. 15). These latter ones He labeled “dogs.” In the first century, dogs were wild and dangerous animals, not usually valued as pets. These “dogs,” then, are people who did not value Jesus and therefore are of no value to Him. He listed some of the lifestyles that He rejects.
Those into witchcraft/occult practices – those seeking connection with demons/Satan.
The sexually immoral – promiscuity, adultery, incest, rape, homosexuality, bestiality, men pretending to be women, women pretending to be men, etc. (listed in both Old and New Testaments)
Idolaters – those worshipping idols, created things, false religions
Then, in verse 16, He further stated His authority. If anyone is involved in any of the above list, such a person must repent, turn from these sins, turn back to God, be united with Jesus and follow Him.
